Former Hungarian President Schmitt Asks For Official Residence
Former president Pal Schmitt has filed a request for a state residence, in which he can live until his death, a government source told tabloid Blikk on condition of anonymity. The office of the president is already talking with state property manager MNV about a villa in the Buda hills.

In relation to this, the government earmarked Ft 150 million for “property investments” two weeks ago.

Previous governments purchased villas for retired heads of state Ferenc Madl and Laszlo Solyom for Ft 126 million and Ft 195 million, respectively.

Schmitt already owns three houses in Buda, along with another in Pest and a weekend house, Nepszava reports.

His daughters are living in the two houses and a 320m2 villa is leased out to foreign diplomats.
