Anita Orban to Serve as Deputy PM
The incoming foreign minister, Anita Orban, will also serve as deputy prime minister in the Tisza government, the prime minister-elect, Peter Magyar, announced in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Magyar wrote that whenever he is unable to fulfil his duties, his deputy will represent him at cabinet meetings and at other official events.

"Today, Anita Orban is in Brussels with [incoming finance minister] Andras Karman, [incoming economy and energy minister] Istvan Kapitany, and [legal expert] Marton Mellethei-Barna for talks with European Commission leaders on securing EU funds for Hungary," he noted.

Here are a few of her recent X posts:

"For 16 years, Hungary hasn’t seen a press conference like this. For 16 years, a prime minister has not answered questions from the press in this open, extended format."

"For TISZA, press freedom is not a slogan, it’s a governing principle. Ministers will be available, accountable, and engaged with the media, because they understand its role in a functioning democracy."

"What makes this shift even more striking: this political movement won without access to state media, without access to platforms tied to the ruling elite, and despite a tightly controlled media environment shaped over years. We have a fundamentally different approach to power that is based on transparency, openness, and accountability."

"Germany remains Hungary’s most important economic partner and largest investor, having created hundreds of thousands of jobs. Despite this, there has been no bilateral meeting between Viktor Orbán and Friedrich Merz. There is a clear need to rebuild political ties. The TISZA government will prioritize a close, strong and stable relationship with Germany.
