Graduate Engineers Ready To Leave Hungary
More than a third of engineers graduating from Budapest’s Technical University would prefer to work abroad, according to a non-representative survey conducted for Telenor Magyarország. In all, 38% would prefer to work outside Hungary, and 13% have already taken steps to that end.

Higher salaries were cited as a major reason by 79% of those who would prefer to work abroad. Better living conditions were cited by 41%.

Opportunities for professional development were also considered important.

The most popular destination countries are Germany, the UK, the US, Switzerland and Austria.

Most of those hopeful of leaving Hungary said they would return eventually; 21% of them after one or two years, 39% after three to five years and 31% after a longer period. About 10% said they would not come back.
