Rio de Janeiro In Budapest, Exhibition By Mateu Velasco
Printa gallery in a join project with Brody House and the Brazilian Embassy in Budapest has the pleasure to announce a double solo exhibition by the Brazilian artist Mateu Velasco. In the first exhibition, titled 'Border hop: Rio - Budapest 1', Mateu Velasco is showing a collection of work from notebooks, t-shirts, serigraphs and Aguatint that is inspired by the urban landscapes of Rio. Showing from 13 - 28 September.

"Mateu’s art stimulate our memory and sensibility through its critical and conceptual poetics. Rich in references of the daily urban experience, his work denotes the persistent need of the city’ s humanization. Layering illustrative signs taken from contemplative elements of the real world: stamps, lettering, manuscripts, drops, clouds, flowers, the outcome of his work is a collection of memory fragments with vibrant-colored brushstrokes, awakening our reflection and acknowledging its subtle condition.

The crossing of the street art graphical language with the world of commercial publicity has resulted in an enormous growth in graphic design and the urban-inspired fashion. This has allowed the inclusion of the artistic quality in Mateu’ s trace in the visual repertoire of many work areas: patterns, panels and shop windows, in the editorial segment (magazines, book covers, etc.)".
