Authorities To Investigate Recent Malfunction At Budapest Airport
- 14 Dec 2012 8:00 AM
A control tower managed by Budapest Airport and the electronic system that operates control functions were damaged last Friday, causing the airport to shut down until midnight. Thanks to the efficient cooperation between the authorities and monitoring bodies, operations were back to normal next morning at 7am.
The control tower, rented from Budapest Airport by HungaroControl, was opened thirty years ago and needs refurbishment, which would be the responsibility of the company operating the airport. Talks on this matter during the past two years between HungaroControl and Budapest Airport have brought no result so far. However, the improvement of the operating environment has become essential.
