Dialogue For Hungary Not Ready To Talk To Socialists
Dialogue for Hungary MPs Benedek Jávor yesterday politely rejected an invitation from Socialist Party president Attila Mesterházy to join the opposition consultations that have been going on since early January. Mesterházy wrote to Jávor and fellow MP Tímea Szabó, expressing hope that they share the Socialists’ view of the need for the democratic opposition to combine their forces.

In reply, Jávor said it is too early for his organisation to join the consultations.

He thanked the Socialists for the invitation and agreed that broad opposition unity is needed to unseat the government, adding that Dialogue will take steps in the interest of co-operation to that end.

However, he said a change of era is needed in 2014 and one must look critically at the mistakes made by earlier governments.

He said Dialogue will co-operate with the Socialists in some form later on.
