Hungary's National Flag Banned At Basketball Game
- 22 Feb 2013 8:00 AM
Jobbik said in a statement relayed to state news agency MTI that the Israeli team’s security chief told organisers not to allow Hungarian flags at the game or else the visiting team would not play.
Jobbik called on Szalay – who is also head of the Hungarian Basketball Federation – and Interior Minister Sándor Pintér to state why a Hungarian flag cannot be present at such a game.
Szalay said a ban on taking the Hungarian flag to a game in Hungary would be inadmissible and shocking.
“We can state one thing, Szolnoki Olaj did not instruct anyone to ban the Hungarian flag,” Szalay declared.
Szolnoki Olaj said that the hosts organised the game after consulting the affected organisations and the security service of the guest team.
