Hungarians are more reluctant to report corruption than any other Europeans, according to a Transparency International survey. Only 30% of respondents said they would report corruption if they experienced it. Among the 70% who would not, 41% say reporting makes no difference and 21% say they are afraid of repercussions.
On the other hand, 71% of Hungarians think that ordinary people have a large role to play in countering corruption.
Some 61% of Hungarians perceived a rise in corruption over the past two years, down from 75% in 2011.
