Xpat Opinion: Best Cheesecakes In Budapest
By We Love Budapest : Cold, creamy, variable and beautiful. These are the features which make cheesecakes one of the most favorite desserts, even if we don’t even know what they really are. Despite of our lack of knowledge, we all love cheesecakes, so they are the perfect summer delicacies to share with our friends. In the following list, we have collected the places that offer the best cheesecakes with the most exciting tastes. All you have to do is decide between the flavors!

Kino Café

The Cake: As the other sweets in the café, their cheesecake got our vote as well. The cake is made of only natural ingredients and is one of our winter favorites – in spite its pleasant, cool temperature. The best-sellers are the banana-chocolate and the raspberry ones, but you can always find something seasonal as well. You cannot find the exact same taste twice, the cakes always change with the flour, and the temperature.

Best part: In winter you can find 20-30 different types of it!

Charlotte Confectionary

The Cake: It doesn’t contain preservatives and has a quite thick line of fruits on top. The sponge contains lemon and orange as well, and it creates a perfect harmony with the other fruits and the cheese-cream.

The Best Part: It is such a massive one, doesn’t fall apart, even if you eat it with bare hands.
Price: 450 HUF
Address: 1053, 14. Vámház Boulevard
Open: M-Sun: 9 am - 9 pm

Déryné Bistro

The Cake: If you went to the quieter part of the city, you can visit the businessmen’s favorite bistro, where you can find the best cheesecake of the city. The patinated restaurant has patinated cheesecakes, in two different tastes: the classic one comes with permanent chocolate, and the seasonal one is always made of some fruits. The selection changes every day.

The Best Part: This cheesecake is made without baking and contains no egg, just the important deliciousness.
Price: 750 HUF
Address: 1013 Budapest, 3. Krisztina Square
Open: M-Thu: 7.30 am - 12 am, F: 07.30 am - 1 am, Sat: 9 am - 1 am, Sun: 9 am - 11.30 pm

Hard Rock Café Budapest

The Cake: It is a classic “New Yorker”, which means that it’s huge. The big pleasure comes in three flavors: caramel, strawberry and chocolate. The cheese-cream is baked together with vanilla and honey and the biscuit basis is made of Graham-flour, so it is quite a top one: not too sweet or lemony. This is exactly what a cheesecake should look like, but you have to pay its price, of course.

The Best Part: rock&roll
Price: 1750 HUF
Address: 1051 Budapest, 3-5. Deák Ferenc Street
Open: Sun-Thu: 12 pm - 1 am, F-Sat: 12 pm - 12 am

MOST Kortárs Bistro

The Cake: oatmeal basis, a huge part of delicious cream and forest-fruit sauce are the main parts. As usual, you can taste the mixture of the bitter flavor with its sweetness. Also, it is recipe that required a long-time of experimenting. it’s been on the menu from the beginning.

The Best Part: You can choose it as a part of the menu (but then it is smaller).
Price: 750 HUF
Address: 1066 Budapest, 17. Zichy Jenő Street
Open: Sun-M: 10 am - 2 am, Tue: 10 am - 3 am, W: 10 am - 4 am, Thu-Sat: 10 am - 5 am

Pastrami

The Cake: A light one, made by the writer of Édesem (My Sweet) blog: Márk Szonja. The cake is made according to an American recipe, with cheese-cream, vanilla, and qualitative ingredients. The oatmeal-biscuit basis holds the cheese-cream and the sweet sour cream, with some strawberry-jelly on the top.

The Best Part: it is so delicious that the owners cannot remove it from the menu – it’s one of the eight most popular meals here.
Price: 900 HUF
Address: 1035 Budapest, 93-99. Lajos Street
Open: M-Sun: 9 am - 11 pm

Vostro

The Cake: It is made of Philadelphia cheese-cream, which is baked, not just mixed. If you rather chose the harmony of the flavors with the elder-jam, instead of just some sweet taste, Vostro will become your favorite. The biscuit is soft, the raspberry one contains real fruit and the caramel one is made of real caramel.

The Best Part: The size really counts here.

TGI Friday’s Budapest

The Cake: Another “New Yorker” with vanilla-strawberry and mint. This is definitely not a light one: thick, straight, but tasteful, sweet, and comes with fresh fruits.

The Best Part: The serving
Price: 1150 HUF
Address: 1067 Budapest, 3. Oktogon Square
Open: M-Sun: 11 am - 12 am

Cake Shop Budapest

The Cake: you can choose the traditional one that is creamy, not too sweet, and has red-currant on the top. It’s always fresh and soft. The blueberry one contains the same basis with a blueberry layer added to it to make it creamier. Its taste is enough for a good feeling, but not enough to domain.

The Best Part: Extra creamy feeling.
Price: 650 HUF
Address: 1051 Budapest, 12. József Attila Street
Open: M-F: 8 am - 8 pm, Sat-Sun: 10 am - 10 pm

Sugar Shop

The Cake: It is so adorable, we had to put it on our list, even though it’s not in the same league with the others. The “Petit fromage” is a ricotta, which made of mascarpone and about 12% natural cheese-cream. It is smaller than an average slice, and if you want something creamy, you’re going to have to look for another place. But still, we love it!

The Best Part: The most adorable cake in the city.
Price: 660 HUF
Address: 1068 Budapest, 48. Paulay Ede Street
Open: M: 12 pm - 10 pm, Tue-Sun: 10 am - 10 pm
