Hungary's PM Orbán Irked By Magyar Krónika Timing
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is unhappy with the way the situation has developed regarding the planned pro-government monthly Magyar Krónika, according to one of those present at the magazine’s first editorial board meeting last night.

Former Magyar Rádió president Katalin Kondor told reporters that Orbán criticised the style and content of government culture commissioner Imre Kerényi’s letter to 100 potential contributors, which was leaked early this week.

Orbán, chairing the meeting, said it was most unfortunate that the publication date for such a journal was set just before the elections, nor should the letter have said that contributors should only write about good things.

Kondor quoted Orbán as saying that such a publication should have existed a long time ago, and that it should not be financed from public funds but from the pockets of friendly entrepreneurs.
