Meanwhile, Hungary’s Foreign Ministry and the National Election Office are liaising on security issues concerning voting at foreign missions in the April 6 general election.
In light of violent demonstrations in Kiev, which claimed 25 lives by Wednesday morning, the ministry and the election office agreed to review whether the security situation will allow Hungarians registered to vote abroad to do so on April 6.
Hungarians living abroad have until 4pm on March 29 to ask to be taken on the voter registry at their foreign mission. In Kiev there are 12 voters registered, in Uzhhorod (Ungvár) 29 and in Beregovo nine.
The Hungarian opposition Unity alliance has called for the complete cessation of the new wave of violence which has recently erupted in Kiev.
“The solution to the crisis can only be reached by peaceful means ... and on the basis of compromise,” the alliance said in a statement, calling on Ukraine to respect the basic laws of the European community such as the right to peaceful assembly and free speech.
