Most Hungarians See Pensions State Responsibility
- 10 Feb 2014 8:00 AM
A vast majority of Hungarians – 76% – believe that securing a pension is the state’s responsibility, the insurer Union told MTI on Saturday, citing the results of a fresh survey. At the same time, 88% of respondents said that by the time they retire, the state pension system will be close to non-functioning, the insurer said.
Fully 22% said self-catering in terms of pensions was of top priority and 40 percent said they were doing something to save for a pension.
Only 13% said their pension payments would be the same as the last wage earned before retirement. Ninety-one per cent said they expected to reduce their spending after retirement.
