- 23 Feb 2014 8:00 AM
“Homeless Hungarian man hits lottery jackpot with his last few coins”- was the title of The Guardian’s Sunday article about the Hungarian lottery millionaire. The life changing story of the homeless László Andraschek who won the lottery jackpot of HUF 630 million (£1.7 million) has gone viral after his success has been published by such well-known online newspapers as The Guardian, the International Business Times and the Daily Star.
Andraschek’s big win went unnoticed, until he gave a significant donation to a hostel for the homeless. He has already paid off his debts, bought flats for his children, and his next step is to establish a foundation for addicts and women abused by their husbands.
Mr Andraschek and his wife, Anikó, said they would spend the money wisely. He may have become rich, but he hasn’t become a different person, he said, and now tens of thousands around the world are discussing and sharing this inspiring story.
