Nine films from Norway, Sweden, France, Iceland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile and the US are competing for the Breaking Waves main prize of this year’s Titanic International Film Festival in Hungary. The head of the international jury is multi-award winning Hungarian filmmaker János Szász. Irish black comedy Calvary opened the festival on April 4.

The programme includes Cambodian Rithy Panh’s documentary The Missing Picture about atrocities Khmer Rouge committed between 1975 and 1979, and US director AJ Edwards’ The Better Angels about the childhood of future president Abraham Lincoln.

The festival will close with Jim Jarmusch’s vampire story Only Lovers Left Alive featuring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddlestone on April 12.
