Heavy Weather Hits Western Hungary
A cyclone swept across parts of western Hungary on Wednesday, wreaking havoc with winds of nearly 140km per hour. Much of the damage was caused along the south shore of Lake Balaton, where streets and holiday homes in many towns are now under water.

Several streets in Balatonfenyves and Fonyód are flooded and in some places ducks are swimming near holiday homes.

Elsewhere, a flood wave on the Rába river has inundated more than 230 hectares of land, Regional Development Minister Sándor Fazekas told reporters.

Heavy rain and winds are expected to hit Budapest today.
