10th International Short Film Festival’BuSho’ Starts In Budapest On Tuesday

According to the State Secretary for Cultural Diplomacy, Hungarian movies – be them feature films, animations or even short films – are among the greatest messengers of Hungarian culture, creativity and expertise around the world and this is evidenced by BuSho International Short Film Festival, organized under increasing professional and public interest with great success year-to-year.
72 countries have submitted nearly 1200 short films for this year’s festival; the 15-hour long programme of BuSho has solidified after a pre-selection lasting almost two months, which is compromised this time from 80 works with the same amount going for information screenings and the animation and the Hungarian panorama section as well.
Central screenings of the highly successful festival will be held in Puskin Cinema, and repeating screenings during nights will be at Corvintető, but like before, the films in competition will be available at Szolnok, Sopron, Oradea, Nové Zámky and Uzhgorod. In addition to the competition programme and information screenings nightly concerts, exhibitions, workshop presentations will be an inevitable part of the festival once again. Also the Visegrád section will get its place in the programme and by the courtesy of the festival, for the fourth time in Hungary the nominees of last year of the European Film Academy in the category of short films can be seen first-hand.
The Budapest fiesta of short film fans will launch after the opening with a best-of screening of last year on 2 September and closes on Saturday with the screening of this year’s winners after the awards ceremony.
The international jury will give prizes in seven categories with three grand prizes, and for the first time, the special prize of the key supporter Visegrad Fund will be given out as well.
