Births Up, Deaths Down In Jan-June In Hungary

Hungary’s natural population decline has slowed with more children born and fewer deaths recorded in the first six months of 2014, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Thursday. Altogether 43,130 children were born in the first half of this year, 3.1% more than in the first half of 2013.
Deaths were down by 3% to 62,969 in the same period, year-on-year.
The largest rise in births was recorded in April with 7,032 births, up 9.4% on April 2013.
The number of deaths was down 10.4% in June, year-on-year.
The number of marriages rose by an annual 7.8% to 15,934 in January-June, KSH said.
