Hungary’s Tax Office Seizes Shoes Worth Almost Huf 600m

Hungary’s Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) has seized 140,000 pairs of shoes with an estimated value of 590 million forints from a tax evader, NAV said on its website.
The business, “run by Asian citizens”, did not disclose revenue from the sale of shoes they imported from China, cheating the state of some 250 million forints in VAT, NAV said.
NAV uncovered the fraud in a sting involving 100 agents at 60 locations around the country.
