Hungary To Store Gas For Russia
Development Minister Miklós Seszták met with Russian deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Yanovsky in Budapest on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of storing some 500 million cubic metres of Russian gas in Hungary, sources close to the ministry told Napi Gazdaság.

The arrangement would facilitate Russian gas exports to Europe in the event of problems in shipping gas via Ukraine.

Hungarian state gas storage facilities have a total capacity of 4.2 billion cubic metres, but at present hold only 2.2 billion cubic metres for domestic purposes.

It would take 15-20 days to store 500 million cubic metres, as the daily maximum intake is 32 million cubic metres.

Topping up of the storage facilities might start this month, Napi Gazdaság adds.
