DK Asks Supporters To Stay Low-Key At Friday’s Demo In Budapest
Activists of the leftist opposition Democratic Forum (DK) have been told they are not welcome at Friday’s anti-government demonstration in Budapest, and in light of threats of reprisals should they attend, the party has asked its sympathisers not to display any party symbols or banners.

Earlier, the party’s leader had called on DK supporters to show their colours at the demonstration. Szabolcs Kerék-Bárczy, a member of the party’s national board, told journalists that DK wants to prevent any violence, and this is why they were withdrawing Ferenc Gyurcsány’s request.

The DK politician did not reveal the source of the threats. Gyurcsány earlier encouraged people attending anti-government demonstrations to support their own organisations freely and to be “proud of this diversity”.

They should use party flags and badges to express their support, he added.
