Hungaricum False Acacia Not Expected To Be Banned In EU
False acacia, which has been registered as a Hungaricum, will most likely not be included in the European Union’s “invasive alien species” list of plants to be banned on its territory, the farm ministry said on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued after a meeting of the EU’s Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting, Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella promised that continual consultations will be maintained with Hungary when the list is being finalised this year.

Hungary’s false acacia is used for honey production. More than half of Europe’s acacia forests are located in Hungary.
