No Fuel Price Pass - Through But Hungarian Govt Plans No Intervention
The economy ministry does not plan any intervention in market fuel prices because inflation is expected to remain low for the whole year, the ministry said, responding to a query by MTI.

Antal Rogán, parliamentary group leader of governing Fidesz, said early in February that the ministry should analyse the reasons for the failure of lower motor fuel prices to pass through to other prices.

The ministry said that businesses still recovering from the drop in demand during the crisis were probably using the lower fuel prices to improve their profitability.

It noted that consumer prices had fallen by an annual 1.4% in January, accelerating from a 0.9% decline in the previous month, and inflation was expected to remain moderate for the entire year.
