Austria Sending Police To Hungarian - Serb Border
In view of the growing number of refugees, Austria will send 40 police officers to the Serbian-Hungarian border after holding consultations with the Hungarian authorities, Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said in a Wednesday statement. The move is not directed against refugees but aimed at solving the international crisis situation that has developed in Europe.

The police officers will be stationed on the Serbian side of the border.

Mikl-Leitner consulted her Hungarian counterpart Sándor Pintér by telephone on protecting the outer perimeters of the EU and the so-called Dublin decree.

The Dublin decree is an EU regulation stating that asylum seekers must apply for refugee status in the first EU member state that they enter.
