The University of Pécs (PTE) and Austria’s Danube Krems University have agreed to launch a joint master’s programme on migrant health services, the deans of the universities’ faculties of medicine said at the signing ceremony. István Szilárd, head of PTE’s migration health care working group, said at a related conference that the Austrian university will launch the programme next spring, while PTE will start the course next autumn.
The “pioneer master’s programme” will be open for 20-25 health-care workers per term, he added.
Allan Krasnik, president for the Section of Migrant and Ethnic Minority Health in the European Public Health Association, said migrants needed to be helped “no matter what” and “should be seen as people, not as epidemics.”
