Migrants Ad Campaign To Cost Hungary HUF 1bn
The government has set aside just over Ft 1 billion for a campaign in foreign countries to discourage refugees from coming to Hungary, government spokesman Zoltán Kovács confirmed in an interview with Magyar Hírlap on Friday. Kovács said the campaign is planned for the migrants’ countries of origin and transit countries, adding “it is important that the news be spread that Hungary strictly defends its borders and only genuine refugees can count on entry”.

Meanwhile, Justice Minister László Trócsányi said on Friday that under the Geneva Convention states may not punish refugees who arrive directly from a country where their life or freedom were in danger. Those arriving from Serbia cannot make such a claim, he added.
