State Secretary For Hungary’s Government Communication Resigns
State secretary for government communication András Giró-Szász yesterday announced he will resign from his position, adding that he can see receiving new tasks from Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, online daily origo.hu reported yesterday. Giró-Szász announced his resignation at the 25th weekly press conference of Cabinet Chief János Lázár.

Giró-Szász said that Orbán asked him 10-11 months ago to “to whip government communication into shape”, but with the establishment of Antal Rogán’s new ministry, which will reportedly be dealing with government communication, the state secretary’s presence became obsolete.

Giró-Szász said that there is another post he has been negotiating about, but declined to add further information on that.

Rogán, who has recently been named Political Cabinet Chief of the ruling Fidesz party, will become a minister with his own ministry, on the basis of a bill submitted by Lázár to Parliament.

The office would be called the Prime Ministerʼs Cabinet Office for “general political coordination” and would apparently deal with communication.
