Hungarian Footballers Advance To Euro 2016
Hungary’s national football team has qualified for the European Football Championships for the first time in 44 years after defeating Norway 2-1 in the return leg of their play-off at the Groupama Stadium in Budapest Sunday evening. Hungary won by a 3-1 aggregate score, having defeated Norway 1-0 in Oslo on Thursday night.

Playing before a crowd of 22,000, including Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, striker Tamás Priskin raised Hungary’s hopes with a 15th-minute strike.

Victory was in sight when Hungary scored a flukey goal in the 82nd minute, before Markus Henrikson netted a consolation goal for Norway.

Hungary has not qualified for a major international tournament since the 1986 World Cup.

Team manager Bernd Storck, who is German, declared after the victory “Now I am a Hungarian”.

The Euro 2016 tournament takes place next summer in France.
