The 2016 V4 International Bicycle Race Started In Budapest

The annual V4 Bicycle Race, with four individual stages in the four countries, has been organised every year since 2013. The initiative is supported by the International Visegrad Fund. The Hungarian stage of the race was realised with the collaboration of multiple partners.
Deputy State Secretary Altusz underlined the importance of the Visegrad Group and highlighted the essential role social and sport events can play in fostering the spirit of regional cooperation. The opening speeches were followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony, performed by Kristóf Altusz, diplomats from the V4 Embassies in Hungary and Beata Jaczewska, Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund. The event was attended by several diplomats, spectators and cycling fans.
The 176.3 km long Hungarian stage, completed by 106 competitors was launched in the presence of cycling legends Nico Mattan and Gilberto Simoni. The race was won by Marek Canecky (Slovakia); Peter Kusztor the best among Hungarian cyclists finished 13th. The V4 Bicycle Race continues with the Slovak and Polish stages, ending in the Czech Republic on 15 May.
