The Hungarian foreign ministry so far knows of one Hungarian woman who was injured after a truck drove into a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, Tamás Menczer, the ministry’s spokesman, said. Menczer said the woman suffered minor injuries. French authorities have yet to give Hungary an official update on the attack’s potential Hungarian casualties, he said.
The Hungarian embassy in France is now trying to make contact with Hungarian citizens in the country, Menczer said, adding that over 12,000 people have registered for consular protection.
At least 84 people were killed in the truck attack and 18 are reported to be in critical condition.
