Tax Overpayments Exceed HUF 1trn

Companies and individuals paid Ft 1.2 trillion in excess tax in the first quarter, Magyar Idõk reports. More than 90% of the overpayments were made by companies, with VAT and corporate tax leading the way. Some 370,000 companies and 1.6 million individuals paid more tax than they should have.
Overpayment is a recurring issue, as the total amount paid in excess has reached Ft 12 billion over the last three years.
There is a five-year period provided by law to recover the overpayment.
