In its front page editorial, Népszabadság recalls that the Obama administration has expressed criticism towards the incumbent Hungarian government on several occasions and suggests that PM Orbán’s favourable assessment of Donald Trump’s stance on international issues was a misstep if he intended to improve the perception of his policies in Washington.
If Hillary Clinton defeats her Republican opponent on 8 November, Népszabadság continues, relations between Budapest and Washington may sour even further, since Mrs Clinton will certainly be ‘more active’ in Europe than Barack Obama, and she appears to ‘have a grudge against Orbán anyway’.
