New State TV Channel Launched
M5, the new state television channel focusing on education and culture, was launched on Sunday. On the first day the channel attempted to broadcast a sample of every programme before midnight.

M5 will air nature programmes and other documentaries from early afternoon, followed by educational programming from 4 p.m. to help viewers to learn English, German, French, Russian, Italian and Spanish.

At 7 p.m. a cultural and scientific newscast of the Carpathian Basin is broadcast for 30 minutes, followed by theatre productions, operas, ballet and concert films.

Night-time programming will feature Hungarian and European art films.
