Retail Sales Growth Picks Up To 5.8% In August

Retail sales growth in Hungary picked up to an annual 5.8% in August after 2.9% in July, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) confirmed in a second reading of data. Adjusted for calendar year effects, retail sales rose by 4.3% in August, picking up from an increase of 3.9% in July.
Adjusted food sales grew by 2.8%, non-food sales climbed 6.1% and fuel sales rose 7.5%. In January-August, unadjusted retail sales rose by 5% and adjusted sales increased by 4.9%.
Food sales grew by 2.7%, non-food sales by 7.8% and fuel sales were up 5.5% during the period.
