Households’ incomes and average living standards have increased in Hungary, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Average real incomes in 2015 were 4.7% higher than a year before, while the income levels of the poorest were up by 5-6%, KSH said in its report for last year.
KSH official Áron Kincses said that the number of people in deep poverty has continued to decrease, from 293,000 in 2014 to 185,000, or from 3% to 1.9% of the total population.
Household consumption has now picked up with pre-crisis levels, with the average person spending nearly one million forints last year, Kincses added.
