The government will provide an 844 million forint non-refundable grant for the project, Péter Szijjártó told a press conference. The minister said that the fact that Hübner, which has plants in a number of countries around the world, had chosen to expand its Nyiregyhaza base was a testament to the Hungarian economy’s competitiveness.
The Hungarian unit of Germany’s Hübner Group makes rubber and plastic parts for buses, trains, trams and road vehicles as well as rubber and plastic products for medical companies. Hübner-H CEO Ingo Heerdt noted that the company employs 2,500 workers worldwide.
The Nyíregyhaza plant with its 650 employees is an important part of the corporation which has around 70-80 percent market share in manufacturing pivoting joints for articulated busses and trains, he said. The development will further strengthen its position and improve productivity, he said. Hubner began upgrading its plant in Nyíregyháza in 2016 and the work should be completed by 2023.
