The ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrats (KDNP) alliance will field 65 seasoned and 41 new candidates at the 2026 parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Fidesz's leader, told the party congress.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was right "for once", when he said that Budapest was a city of free, independent and confident citizens, Mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Facebook.
"If Fidesz does not stop cheating, it may win the election, but if they win because of this, we will not recognise it, we will shut down the country peacefully but very decisively," independent lawmaker Ákos Hadházy said.
The Tisza Party is prepared for a change of government and system and will work to usher in "years of prosperity", Peter Magyar, the opposition party's leader, told a press conference.
