Hungary's Café Frei & Cserpes Start Bottling Coffee
Café chain Café Frei and dairy Cserpes have teamed up to produce bottled coffee products for sale in shops, Forbes reports.

The popular café latte products Nicaragua Tobacco, Guatemala Hazel and Costa Rica Coconut, hitherto only available at Café Frei units, are bottled in the Cserpes plant in Kapuvár using milk supplied by the dairy company.

The target is to sell a monthly 100,000 bottles of each product.

The 0.75-litre bottles are available in Spar outlets for Ft 850.

Café Frei has been thinking for more than a year about launching its products on the retail market, CEO Tamás Langár told Forbes.

Owner István Cserpes said his company did not want to compete with plastic bottled and UHT milk-based coffee products sold at petrol stations, instead opting to offer coffee in bottles in a size not offered by anyone else, thereby filling a market niche.

Spar already sells coffee beans packaged by Café Frei.

Café Frei reported Ft 2.1 billion and Cserpes Ft 3.7 billion in revenues last year.
