This year’s best foodie fest in Budapest will showcase outstanding female chefs, bakers, breeders and manufacturers who are taking an increasingly visible role in the traditionally male-dominated world of hospitality in Hungary.
Around 60 wineries will pour rosé and sparkling wines in the sunny (hopefully) City Park for three days. The entrance is free including live music programmes, only an official Rosalia glass is needed to be 'rented' or purchased, and then festival-goers pay for the wines and food they choose to consume.
A price increase of at least 10 percent is expected in Balaton restaurants. In Gyenesdiás, a scoop of ice cream currently costs HUF 600 (EUR 1.52), but visitors and vacationers should also be prepared for a rise in prices nationwide.
The government’s 2030 Competitiveness Strategy promises “soft protectionist” measures to protect domestic food companies. This also means that the authorities will take stronger action to protect Hungarian suppliers, reports Világgazdaság.
