Art Collection Worth HUF 6 Billion Donated to Museums in Hungary
The MNB will donate its art collection to museums, governor Mihály Varga announced at a year-end press conference.

The collection, valued at around Ft 6 billion, was built up in 2020-24, when the central bank spent roughly Ft 5 billion, largely on neo-avant-garde abstract works.

Varga added that most of the 1,422 pieces artworks have until now been displayed only in internal offices, corridors and storage areas, leaving the public with little or no access.

The largest share, 155 pieces, will go to the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery, and the remainder to regional museums across the country.
