Peter Magyar, leader of the opposition Tisza Party, has had successful talks in Budapest with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, the leader of the Austrian People's Party, his party said in a statement on Thursday.
"The decision of American voters gives us good hopes that political cooperation between the United States and Hungary could again get into a top shape," the foreign minister said on Facebook on Wednesday morning.
Hungary's opposition parties have responded to Republican nominee Donald Trump's victory at the US presidential election.
Parliament voted on Monday to empower the government to prolong by 180 days the state of emergency in connection with the war in Ukraine.
