Police Reveal Results of Weekend Raids Around Downtown Budapest

They wrote that from last Friday evening until Saturday morning, a criminal and police inspection was held in the V., VI. and VII. districts. In addition to almost a hundred police officers, the National Tax and Customs Office, the Metropolitan Municipality Police Directorate, the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office, the Disaster Prevention and Civil Guard Association and others also participated in the operation.
Six hundred and twenty-five people were checked and two hundred and fifty-five vehicles were inspected.
According to the information, eleven arrests were made during the checks: most of them were for drug possession, others were taken into custody based on arrest warrants and a separate law. One driver was arrested for drunk driving.
The police filed five traffic violation reports and imposed on-the-spot fines or administrative fines in fourteen cases. In addition, six more reports were filed and seven on-the-spot fines were imposed by the police for possession of a device that is particularly dangerous to public safety, drinking alcohol in public, illegal prostitution, and disturbing the peace, the statement said.
