Hungary Won't Negotiate EU Budget While Denied Funding 'It's Entitled To'
As long as Hungary does not have access to the funding it is entitled to, it cannot meaningfully negotiate the European Union's new budgetary framework plan, the EU affairs minister, has said.

In a post on Facebook, Janos Boka said Piotr Serafin, the European Commission's budget commissioner, whose portfolio includes the preparation of the union's next seven-year financial framework, visited Budapest on Monday.

"I told him quite simply: as long as Hungary has no access to the funding it is entitled to ... we cannot meaningfully negotiate the new budgetary framework plan," he wrote, adding that within the new framework "we want to negotiate not about imaginary money, but about real money."

"This can only happen by ditching the practice of budget blackmail and scrapping the conditionality mechanisms that serve it," he added.
