New Support Plan for Restaurants in Hungary Unveiled - Worth HUF 100 Billion
A HUF 100bn action plan for restaurants is coming, the government announced in a post on social media. According to information, representative functions related to restaurant services will be tax-free, the tourism development contribution will be reduced, and favourable taxation of the service charge will be expanded.

Industry players will receive preferential loans through the Kisfaludy Tourism Credit Centre, an advertising brochure is being prepared, administrative burdens will be reduced, and administration will be made fully digital from 2027, the post said.

Catering associations welcome government stimulus measures

Three of the biggest catering industry associations in Hungary welcomed stimulus measures announced by National Economy Marton Nagy in a statement issued.

Pal Zoltan Gal, who heads the Hungarian Hospitality Employers' Association (VIMOSZ), said a reduction in the tourism development contribution from 4pc to 2pc would help slow the recent wave of business closures.

He added that raising the threshold for reduced tax on service fees to 20pc of turnover would ease the payroll burden for catering establishments.

Govt to roll out HUF 100bn support package for restaurants

The government has approved a HUF 100bn package to support the local catering industry, daily Magyar Nemzet said, citing a post on social media by National Economy Minister Marton Nagy.

The economy cabinet cleared the package of six measures after assessing the performance of the tourism sector at a meeting a week earlier, the paper said.
