Budapest’s beer lovers have a reason to celebrate as the Belvárosi Sörfesztivál (Downtown Beer Festival) marks its 10th anniversary edition in the heart of the city between 1 - 6 September.

Budapest’s beer lovers have a reason to celebrate as the Belvárosi Sörfesztivál (Downtown Beer Festival) marks its 10th anniversary edition in the heart of the city.

Taking place in the picturesque Szabadság tér (Liberty Square), this six-day open-air event offers a perfect late-summer gathering under fairy lights, surrounded by impressive architecture and green lawns.

What to Expect

The festival brings together over 250 types of beer, bridging the gap between small-batch craft breweries and well-loved international favorites.

Hungarian Craft Breweries

Top local names like MAD Scientist, First Craft Beer, Horizont Brewing, Fehér Nyúl, Szent András, and Brew Your Mind will be showcasing their signature brews alongside festival premieres.

International Favorites

Expect dedicated houses for Belgian, Czech, German, and Bavarian specialties, alongside global brands such as Pilsner Urquell, 1664 Blanc, Bernard, and Estrella.

Street Food & Delicacies

Pair your brews with a wide variety of food truck offerings, ranging from gourmet burgers (Cheche Burger) and BBQ (Zabálj Csak!) to artisanal cheeses, chimney cake (Kürtőskalács), and seafood (Nemo Fish & Chips).

How Beer Consumption Works

While entry to the park is free, beer is served strictly in official festival glass festival mugs/glasses to maintain quality and reduce waste.

Attendees can purchase their reusable festival glass on-site:

Premium Festival Glass: HUF 4,999
Exclusive Festival Glass: HUF 5,999

Opening hours: 

Tuesday & Wednesday 12 - midnight
Thursday – Saturday 12:00 – 02:00
Sunday 12 - midnight

Getting there: 

Szabadság tér is easily accessible by foot from Central Budapest or via public transit (M3 Metro - Arany János utca, or M2 Metro - Kossuth Lajos tér). Underground paid parking is also available directly beneath the square.
