BuDUNKpest: See Acrobatic Basketball at Budapest's Heroes’ Square for Free
- 16 Sep 2026 1:57 PM
Hungary will be represented by Face Team, alongside teams from the USA, Slovenia, China, Iran and France. The free event begins at 12.45pm and will feature both team and individual competitions.
Unlike conventional basketball, acrobatic basketball combines basketball skills with trampolines, acrobatics and choreographed routines. Competitors perform elaborate dunks and other aerial manoeuvres before being judged as part of the competition.
The event has particular significance for Hungary. Its competition rules and scoring system were developed by Hungarian and Slovenian pioneers, while the first international acrobatic basketball competition was held in Budapest in 2016.
The programme opens with a ceremony at 12.45pm, followed by six team performances. Dance and beatbox shows will take place between the competitions, with the team competition concluding with its awards ceremony at around 4pm.
The individual dunk competition will then run from 4pm to 5pm, followed by its own awards ceremony. Organisers recommend arriving from 11am.
BuDUNKpest is part of the Hungarian Basketball Federation's Basketball Day programme and the Suzuki Streetball final, bringing this spectacular form of basketball to a major public event in the city.
Admission is free of charge for spectators.
