At the age of 27, Margaret was tapped to become a diplomat and moved to Budapest to become Chief of Staff to Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker. It was during this experience that she met her husband, Stephen de Heinrich de Omorovicza and was introduced to the famous Hungarian mineral rich thermal waters.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I arrived in 2001 as a diplomat, posted at the US Embassy.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Yes, in Paris, London and Brussels.

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Friday night would be dinner at home with some wonderful, local friends, Saturday morning would be walking up the Falk Miksa where you can find great, quirky antiques, then lunch at Café Kor. Afternoon would send friends to visit the local baths and then have treatments at our spa. Saturday night would be dinner at a fun spot then to hear some music. Sunday would be a tour of the Castle District with brunch at another amazing local restaurant, Klassz.

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Goulash and fois gras

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
As we have small children, I would say the famous Hungarian Turo Rudi, an absolute necessity.

7.What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Palacsinta (pancake)

8. What do you miss most from home?
Southern Cookin'

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I would have loved to be a playwright. However, as I am completely lacking in any morsel of talent in that department - was not meant to be.

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Chimney Sweeper- though in Hungary they do have the chicest uniforms...

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
St Tropez

12. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Verbier

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Cannot remember, thank goodness.

14. What can't you resist?
A beret, I have one in every color

I don't discriminate

Book

17. Morning person or night person?
Morning

18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Children's education and healthcare as well as breast cancer.

Pest
