The Hungarian refugee system is not functioning in accordance with international norms, and urgent measures are needed to correct that, the UN High Commission for Refugees announced yesterday. The office’s Central European representative Gotffried Köhner told a Budapest press conference that Hungarian authorities wrongfully keep political asylum seekers in detention with illegal migrants.
