Budapest Book Week Will Stay Downtown

Mayor István Tarlós promised on Tuesday that the annual Book Week event will be held on downtown Vörösmarty tér as usual. Last week’s reports that a city council committee wanted to move the event from Vörösmarty tér were based on a misunderstanding, Tarlós said.

The realization of this memorial wall was jointly financed by EMIH Egységes Magyarországi Izraelita Hitközség (Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation) and the Municipality of Erzsébetváros district.

The Budapest Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian National Gallery opened an exhibition of 25 international masterpieces from their collections on large outdoor digital displays in the centre of Madrid on Thursday. The exhibition dubbed “Art on the Street from Budapest”, featuring works by the likes of El Greco, Leonardo, Raphael and Munkácsy, will be on show near the Prado Museum until August 9.
