Busho International Short Film Festival, Budapest, 30 August - 4 September

The festival was established in 2004 by a group of young Hungarian filmmakers in order to fill a gap in the category of short film, but over the years it became clear that it was about much more. The international breakthrough came rapidly on the 3rd festival in 2007 when shorts were screened from 45 countries.

From the Island of Mohács the „devils” still come on boats, according to the legend. Those arriving by boats walk to Kóló Square to join the rest, and then all proceed through the streets, mixing in with the audience along the way.

"As we informed audience a month ago, we await the the films that were selected into the Competition and the Panorama section of the 10th jubilee BuSho International Short Film Festival until the 20th of July with the following conditions.
Method of transfer: either to our FTP server or by way of any file-transfer application (such as for example www.wetransfer.com).

Ever wondered what an ancient carnival would look like? Just 40 kilometers from Farmotel Stefania the historic town of Mohács hosts the UNESCO-protected Busó festival. It marks the end of winter, featuring ‘Busós’, frightening-looking costumed people, most of men, wearing wooden masks and big woolly cloaks.
