The first two Siemens Combino trams equipped with CCTV cameras, began running along the 4-6 line in Budapest on Tuesday. Hungary’s intelligent traffic surveillance system is set to be installed by the end of the year, the deputy national police chief said. The network dubbed “Véda” was financed in part by 14.5 billion forints (EUR 46m) of EU funds and will include 160 mobile speed cameras and 365 complex traffic control points on a total of 134 roads, Zsolt Halmosi told a press conference.
